A Decadent Pea Vintage Clothing

A Random Ramble

Oh look, I blinked and now it’s 2021. Hello peas, I missed you and I briefly forgot about you after I said I wouldn’t; but that’s only because of lots of Christmas Dinner and board games, and martini’s (obviously). But, if you are reading this then it means you are still here, so thank you and hello again.

It’s been difficult to think of content because so far this year I’ve been working lots but not really going anywhere exciting (hello, lockdown 3) or do anything too exciting (hello, inability to say no to extra work even though I am too busy) and so in my spare time I have just been cooking nice vegan meals and listening to music – so I suppose I can’t complain too much.

My ideas going forward are to set up a pea sized shop of pre loved vintage and vintage style clothing. As a filmmaker I have a great deal of old costumes and props that I probably won’t use again. Also, I am trying to scale down my wardrobe. After all, nobody needs a black cocktail gown in the middle of a pandemic do they? Or do they?

Maybe I will put it on and give off big Jane Russell energy while I schmooze between room to room. That would be quite hard to do considering my flat has only three rooms. Sigh.

Sadly, I think it’s more likely I will be galumphing around the place giving off big Marlon Brando energy in a white vest with miscellaneous stains on the front of it (could it be spaghetti bolognese, or maybe beer?) wishing I could be wearing my cocktail gown somewhere.

Either way, I think spring cleaning will be coming early this year. I want to spread the word of sustainability while sharing some loved and still fabulous clothing from my filmy adventures.

The next task though, is to train Jack (decoupage extraordinaire) to put down the sandpaper and pick up the camera, because these vintage looks aren’t going to photograph themselves now are they?

Although, I suppose if needs be then I could take the photographs and Jack could wear the gowns, then he could practice giving off big Tony Curtis energy. But then again, maybe not….

Anyway, I will be sure to keep you posted – it could be some time away yet, but as Tony Curtis says,

“It’s not how long you wait, it’s who you’re waiting for.”

Until next time,

A Decadent Pea x

  1. At the beginning of quarantine, I would take 1 day a week and just go full glam. Get dressed up,put on a full night-out face of make up and sit on my couch. So I say go ahead! Get dressed up and just feel beautiful even if going nowhere!

  2. I think a vintage shop would be a great way to give your old costumes and props a new home! You could even include a little tag that says what project it was used in or what character used it!
